Industrial motors and controls, built for compressor-duty and beyond.
Built to Run Hard.
WEG was founded on 16 September 1961 in Jaraguá do Sul, Brazil, by Werner Ricardo Voigt, Eggon João da Silva, and Geraldo Werninghaus — the company's name comes from the first letter of each founder's first name. Starting as a small motor repair shop, WEG grew to become one of the largest electric motor manufacturers in the world, with operations on five continents, approximately 40,000 employees, and revenue exceeding US$6 billion.
The Brazilian headquarters remains the engineering center for the global motor and drive portfolio.
In the compressed-air and industrial distribution market, WEG is the motor that goes on the compressor package. The ODP and TEFC motor families span 1-phase and 3-phase configurations from 1 HP through 20+ HP in rolled-steel and cast-iron frames, with service factors and frame standards matched to compressor-duty requirements. The motor controls line — IEC contactors, magnetic starters, and DSP-controlled solid-state soft starters — means the starting system ships from the same brand as the motor, sized and certified together.
WEG motors and controls reach SPC through its distribution network, meaning catalog depth and lead times are backed by established supply — SPC layers on the application sizing so the right frame, enclosure, and voltage land on the compressor package the first time.
A compressor motor rarely ships without a starter or soft start.
Through the distribution network, WEG availability and pricing are backed by aggregated demand across the network, with SPC as the single point of contact for quoting, lead time, and after-sale support.
General Manufacturing → Replacement and OEM compressor motors for plant-wide pneumatic and mechanical equipment.
Oil & Gas / Energy → Compressor-duty motors for gas compression and instrument-air applications.
Mining & Heavy Equipment → Cast-iron TEFC motors for dusty and moisture-exposed mining air compressor applications.
Automotive Manufacturing → Compressor and machinery motors on automotive plant production equipment.
Food & Beverage Processing → TEFC enclosures for washdown-adjacent motor applications in processing environments. Open-drip-proof (ODP) motors are suited for clean, dry indoor compressor rooms where adequate ventilation exists. Totally-enclosed fan-cooled (TEFC) is the choice for dusty, wet, or outdoor environments — the W22 TEFC cast-iron line is the premium-efficiency option for high-duty-cycle applications.
Full-voltage magnetic starters (ESW/ESWS) are the straightforward choice for motors under ~15 HP where in-rush is acceptable on the electrical service. For larger compressor motors or facilities with utility demand-charge sensitivity, the SSW07 solid-state soft starter reduces in-rush and extends motor life.
Single-phase ODP motors cover smaller compressor packages (typically under 5 HP) on residential or light-commercial single-phase service. Three-phase is the standard for industrial compressor packages — 208–460 V depending on the site.
