Marathon Electric traces its roots to 1913 in Wausau, Wisconsin, where two design engineers built the company's first product — a ¼ HP single-phase washing machine motor — in a converted logging mill. More than a century later, the brand is part of Regal Rexnord Corporation, one of the largest electric motor manufacturers in the world, engineering motors from ¼ HP to over 5,000 HP across voltages from 120 VAC to 13.8 kV.
The compressor-duty line is what made Marathon's reputation in industrial pneumatics. Built for the high inrush, high-torque startup demands of reciprocating and screw compressors, Marathon motors carry a 1.15 service factor, Class F insulation, and NEMA frame standards that make them direct drop-ins when a compressor rebuild needs a reliable motor without a custom sourcing chase.
