Reliable. Protected. Ready.

Eaton was founded in 1911 in New Jersey — originally as a truck axle manufacturer — and has spent more than a century expanding into one of the world's largest power management companies. Today Eaton serves customers in more than 160 countries with a portfolio spanning electrical components, power distribution, hydraulics, aerospace, and vehicle drivetrain systems, generating approximately $24.9 billion in annual revenue with around 94,000 employees.

For the industrial distribution market, Eaton is synonymous with motor control: definite-purpose magnetic starters, IEC contactors, overload relays, and the enclosures and accessory contacts that make them field-ready. The A27/B27 DP starter line ships as a complete Class 10 unit — contactor, XT overload relay, and NEMA 1 enclosure — with no separate heater elements required. The XT IEC line adds an electronic coil controller for higher-duty-cycle applications.

Eaton's manufacturing facilities operate under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, and product lines carry UL listing, CSA certification, and CE marking as applicable. The combination of global manufacturing scale and a part number catalog that covers virtually every standard motor voltage and HP class makes Eaton the reliable backstop for motor-control MRO in the compressed-air and general industrial markets.

Why source Eaton through SPC Company?

Spec'd through SPC's distribution network

SPC sources Eaton motor-control components through its distribution network.

Spec it right the first time

Magnetic starter selection involves HP, phase, voltage, and enclosure — all variables SPC works through before quoting.

The distribution network

Through the distribution network, Eaton controls availability and pricing are backed by aggregated purchasing across member distributors, with SPC as the single point of contact for quoting and fulfillment.

Not sure which Eaton line?

Answer a couple of quick questions and we'll point you to the right Eaton starter.
Definite-purpose or IEC starter?

Definite-purpose (A27/B27) starters are the standard for compressor applications and ship as complete Class 10 units with NEMA 1 enclosure. IEC (XT series) starters suit applications with higher duty cycles or where an electronic coil controller is specified — the XT platform accepts a wider overload range and has lower inrush.

HP, phase, and voltage class?

Match the starter to motor nameplate: 5–25 HP, 1- or 3-phase, 110–480 V for the DP range. Confirm the coil voltage (110V, 208V, 230V, or 460V) — Eaton replacement coils are available separately. Overload relay is set at the motor's full-load amp rating.

Replacement or new installation?

For a direct replacement, cross the installed Eaton or competitor part number. For a new installation, size to motor HP, phase, and voltage class, then confirm NEMA enclosure rating for the environment (NEMA 1 for indoor dry; specify NEMA 4/4X for wet or washdown locations).

Auxiliary contacts or accessories needed?

C320/C400 auxiliary contact blocks add electrical interlock or status outputs to the starter assembly. Replacement coils are available by voltage class for field service. Specify these at order time to ship in the same transaction.
