The OEM Standard in Compressor Pressure Control
Switch. Protect. Run.
Condor Werke was founded in Ennigerloh, Germany in 1893 — and the company claims the world's first patent for a diaphragm pressure regulator/pressure switch, awarded in 1935. That heritage is not incidental: the MDR brand name dates to the same era, and the MDR pressure switch has been in continuous global OEM use long enough to become the default reference when a compressor technician specifies a pressure switch.
Over 130 years and four generations of family ownership, Condor has expanded from a German machine factory into a globally distributed controls manufacturer with subsidiaries in the Netherlands, the USA, and other markets. The company holds ISO 9001 certification (since 1995, now to the 2018 standard), and the MDR switch range carries approvals including UL, CSA, VDE, VdS, and ATEX across various models — covering North American, European, and maritime installation requirements from a single product platform.
Condor's core market position is simple: when a compressor OEM needs a pressure switch that is reliable enough to put on millions of units and distributed widely enough that the aftermarket can find it, the MDR is the answer. The MDR11 and MDR3 in particular cover the bulk of reciprocating compressor control applications in a single catalog page, which is why Condor is found as original equipment on compressors from virtually every major manufacturer.
Condor MDR switches are sourced through SPC's distribution network, so the configuration you need — unloader, on/off, or combined — comes without the lead times of a factory special-order.
SPC specifies pressure switches in the context of the full compressor package: motor HP, tank size, duty cycle, and voltage.
From the switch to the motor-protection device, SPC carries the Condor line alongside complementary controls brands, so the whole compressor control circuit ships from a single distributor relationship.
General Manufacturing → Pressure switch replacement and OEM build-out for plant air compressors.
Automotive Manufacturing → Compressor pressure control for automotive shop and production compressed air.
Construction & Infrastructure → MDR switches for contractor and portable compressor pressure control.
Metalworking & Fabrication → Reliable pressure control for shop compressors in machining and fabrication facilities.
HVAC & Building Systems → Pressure and pump control switching for HVAC-related compressed air and fluid systems.
Marine & Shipbuilding → MDR-F series (Germanische Lloyd approved) for marine and offshore pressure control applications. Both MDR11 and MDR3 cover the 80–200 PSI setpoint range with 20–65 PSI differential — matching the operating band of the overwhelming majority of single-phase reciprocating compressors. Confirm the compressor's cut-in and cut-out pressure against this range before specifying a non-standard switch.
Standard (pressure only), unloader (holds the unloader valve open on restart to reduce starting load), on/off (shuts the motor at max pressure), or combined unloader+on/off — the MDR platform covers all four. Match to the compressor's wiring diagram, not just the PSI range.
The MDR11 at 26A heavy-duty 2-pole is the right choice for higher-HP single-phase compressor motors operating at high cycle rates. Confirm motor FLA and switch ampacity before specifying; do not substitute a lower-rated switch on a high-cycle application.
The MDR11 is available in 1-port and 4-port 1/4" manifold configurations. Multi-port manifolds simplify the plumbing when the pressure switch needs to connect to both the tank and an unloader line simultaneously.
